Matt Booth's Johnny Tobacconaut first launched at the 2015 trade show as an all-Nicaraguan limited release, a cosmic, irreverent project that became a cult favorite despite producing only 3,500 boxes. When the brand returned in 2023 under A.J. Fernandez's hand, the blend changed direction entirely: an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper replaced the original Nicaraguan leaf, paired with a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan filler, a three-country combination that gives the cigar more complexity than a typical Connecticut blend usually delivers.
