The Sumatra was released alongside the Maduro as one of the first two entries in the Essence Series, and it showcases a wrapper that has been a signature component in Carrillo blends throughout his career. Where the Maduro uses a single binder leaf, the Sumatra is the only entry in the series to use a dual binder construction, one leaf from Nicaragua and one from Honduras, which adds a layer of complexity beneath the wrapper. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sumatra over the dual Nicaraguan and Honduran binder, with long-leaf filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Three sizes, 24-count cedar boxes. Medium in body. Made at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic.
