Zocalo

By CAO

The Zócalo takes its name from the central public square found in Mexican cities, and it marked a first for CAO: the brand had never used a Mexican wrapper in its nearly 25 years on the market before this blend debuted in 2018. The wrapper is a Morron varietal grown in the San Andrés Valley, a leaf that carries more natural sweetness and less of the coarse character associated with other Mexican varietals. The blend pairs that wrapper with a Cameroon binder and Nicaraguan long-leaf filler. Originally released as a single limited-edition size, it returned in 2021 as a regular production line in three sizes. Medium to full in body. Made at the STG Estelí factory in Nicaragua.
