Amazon Basin

By CAO

The Bragança tobacco at the center of this blend is grown on virgin rainforest land in a remote region of the Brazilian Amazon, harvested once every three years from the same plots. After harvest the leaves are hand-rolled into tight tubes called carottes and left to ferment under high pressure for six months. They then travel out of the rainforest by canoe before reaching the factory. The scarcity of the leaf is what makes the Amazon Basin a limited production release, available only when new Bragança tobacco comes in. Blended by Rick Rodriguez and debuted in 2014, the cigar pairs that Brazilian filler with Colombian and Dominican Republic leaf, bound in a Nicaraguan binder and finished in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. In place of a paper band, a length of twisted Bragança tobacco stem is coiled around the cigar. Available in a single size, 6 x 52 toro, in boxes of 18. Medium to full in body. Made in Nicaragua.
