Navigator sits in Pease's Old London Series and takes its cues from the Navy flake tradition, a style with roots in the maritime tobacco culture that sustained long voyages with pressed Virginia leaf and rum. The blend is red and bright Virginias pressed and aged with a touch of dark rum, joined by a supporting measure of dark-fired Kentucky leaf. Pease is deliberate in flagging that this is not an aromatic: the rum enhances the natural fruitiness of the Virginias and softens the Kentucky's edges rather than adding a flavoring note on top. The Kentucky builds slowly through the bowl, starting as a background presence before pushing forward with woody smokiness as the bowl develops. Broken flake. Medium to full in strength.
