Most manufacturers who advertise a Connecticut wrapper have moved production to Ecuador or Honduras, chasing the lower cost of growing the same seed elsewhere. J.C. Newman built Double Connecticut around a different idea: use the genuine article in both the wrapper and the binder, sourced from two families who have grown tobacco in the Connecticut River Valley for generations. It is an unusual combination, since Broadleaf typically appears as a wrapper leaf in its own right rather than a binder, and the pairing gives the cigar a spicier, peppery character that sets it apart from other Connecticut-forward blends. The wrapper is Connecticut Shade over a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, with filler drawn from three growing valleys in northern Nicaragua. Multiple sizes. Mellow to medium in body. Made at J.C. Newman's PENSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
