Azabache

By C.L.E.

In Honduras and across much of Latin America, azabache is a piece of jet black coal fashioned into a charm and given to newborns to ward off misfortune. Christian Eiroa named this cigar after it, building the wrapper to match: a deep, oily Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf that is among the darkest in his catalog. The Azabache was introduced in 2016 as a TAA exclusive, available only through Tobacconists' Association of America member shops. Demand pushed it into regular production. The filler draws from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru, over a Honduran binder, finished in the San Andrés wrapper. Slightly box pressed. Made at the El Aladino factory in Danlí, Honduras.
