Gran Reserva Canones

By Arturo Fuente

The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva is the foundational line of the family brand, built on a recipe of aged Dominican binder and filler tobaccos that has been refined across four generations. Every leaf used in the Gran Reserva is drawn from a private reserve set aside exclusively for the line, aged in Spanish cedar vaults before rolling. The Fuente family oversees every step of production at their factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The Canones is the largest vitola in the Gran Reserva lineup at 8.5 x 52, a Presidente format that demands a significant time commitment and rewards patience. The natural version is wrapped in an African Cameroon leaf, a wrapper variety grown in Central Africa from Sumatran seed stock introduced after World War II and cultivated by small farmers on plots averaging around an acre. Cameroon wrapper is known for its fine, slightly oily texture and the mild natural sweetness it contributes to the smoking experience. The Canones builds gradually in body across its considerable length, starting smooth and gaining complexity through the final third. Medium strength. Handmade in the Dominican Republic.
