Chelsea Morning is part of the G.L. Pease Old London Series, a line built around the neighborhoods and character of Victorian London. Chelsea was the bohemian quarter, home to artists, writers, and a particular kind of unhurried morning that the blend's name evokes directly. The components are red and bright Virginias, fragrant Oriental leaf, a measured amount of Cyprian Latakia, and a pinch of Perique. The processing is worth noting: the leaf is blended in layers, briefly pressed to integrate the components, then sliced and tumbled into short ribbons that fall between a broken flake and a ribbon cut in texture. The result is easy to pack and easy to smoke. The Latakia is present but restrained, providing depth and a gentle smokiness without asserting itself over the Virginias and Orientals that carry most of the flavor. The Perique plays a supporting role throughout. It is one of the more accessible entries in the G.L. Pease lineup for smokers transitioning from Virginia blends into English territory.
