The Pledge is the third entry in the Perez-Carrillo Series, the group of blends that Ernesto Perez Carrillo reserves for his most personal work. La Historia earned number two Cigar of the Year in 2014. The Encore earned number one in 2018. The Pledge Prequel earned number one in 2020 with a 98 rating, the highest score Cigar Aficionado has ever given a Carrillo cigar. Three releases in the series, three appearances in the top two spots on the most recognized list in the industry. The Pledge is Carrillo's stated promise to cigar smokers, his commitment to continue working with the best tobaccos and delivering new blends for as long as he is able. Each size in the line marks a different milestone in his career. The wrapper is a Connecticut Havana seed leaf grown in the United States, over an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan long-leaf filler. All sizes box pressed. 10-count boxes. Medium to full in body. Made at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic.
