By Drew Estate
Drew Estate's relationship with coffee goes back to 2002, when they began experimenting with Kahlua-inspired infusion concepts that eventually led to the Java and Tabak Especial lines. Isla del Sol is the most accessible entry in that coffee-infused lineage, priced for everyday smoking rather than occasional indulgence. The infusion uses Sumatran Mandheling bean coffee, a low-acid, full-bodied variety grown in the highlands of Sumatra, worked into the Nicaraguan filler leaf using the same infusion process that defines the rest of the Drew Estate aromatic portfolio. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sumatra over Nicaraguan binder and filler, with a sweetened cap. The coffee character reads as mocha and cream rather than sharp espresso, making it approachable for smokers new to infused cigars and satisfying enough for those who already know the line. Mild in body. Made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua.
