The non-Cuban Cohiba brand is owned by General Cigar, and the Blue was developed as a more accessible entry point in that portfolio. The defining component is the wrapper and binder leaf: a proprietary Honduran Olancho San Agustín varietal, grown in the volcanic soils of the OSA Valley in a collaboration with the Plasencia family. The same leaf debuted on the Partagas Heritage, but the Blue uses it on both wrapper and binder, giving the OSA tobacco more presence in the overall blend than any other cigar in the General Cigar lineup at the time of its release. The filler combines Honduran Jamastran, Nicaraguan Ometepe, and Dominican Piloto Cubano. Medium in body. Made at General Cigar Dominicana in the Dominican Republic.
