Asylum 13

By C.L.E.

Asylum Cigars launched in 2012 as a collaboration between Tom Lazuka, Kevin Baxter, and Christian Eiroa, built around a deliberate rejection of convention through outsized ring gauges, extended smoking times, and blends that made no apologies for their intensity. The 13 was one of three cigars that debuted the brand and remains its foundation. It is a Nicaraguan puro throughout. Cuban-seed long-leaf filler is grown in the black volcanic soils of Nicaragua and finished in a dark, oily Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. The line runs from a 5 x 50 robusto up through sizes that reach 8 x 80, with the larger sizes delivering smoking times well past two hours. Rated 91 by Cigar Aficionado. Medium to full in body. Handmade in Nicaragua.
