Flathead

By CAO

The Flathead debuted at the 2013 IPCPR trade show as a creation of Rick Rodriguez and Ed McKenna at General Cigar, built around American hot rod culture. The cigars are completely box pressed with a flat squared-off head, and each size is named after a car part. The box is designed to mimic an engine block and includes a vintage pinup print, a packaging concept that goes well beyond marketing gimmick given the cigar inside. The blend starts with a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper over a Cuban-seed Connecticut Habano binder, with Nicaraguan and Dominican long-leaf filler at the core. Rated 95 by Cigar Aficionado and ranked number 3 Cigar of the Year in 2015, the highest rating CA has ever given a 60-ring gauge cigar. Full in body. Made in Nicaragua.
